For Businesses: A Benefit Solution

An Employee Assistance Program is an essential and cost-effective benefit package offered to your supervisors and employees to help with problems not easily addressed by employers.

Why does my company need an Employee Assistance Program?

An EAP provides supervisors with support in addressing employee attendance, workplace performance or productivity issues, corporate substance abuse policy violations and inappropriate behavior.

An EAP supports your employees and their families by providing free confidential counseling and referral services for personal problems.

An EAP supports your management and Human Resources department in developing and enforcing a workplace substance abuse policy.

An EAP saves your company money and shows your employees you’re concerned about their well-being. EAPs have been proven to increase productivity and reduce employee related expenses.

Companies that offer EAPs have seen a reduction of sick leave usage by 33%, work related accidents by 65%, workers’ compensation claims by 30%, grievances by 50%, and time spent on supervisor reprimands by 74%.

A Cornell University study involving the “100 Best” companies found that generous work/life benefits were linked with happier, more productive employees, customers who received better quality products and enhanced service, and with an improved bottom line.

Research shows that employee assistance programs can save your company money by:

  • improving productivity
  • reducing tardiness/absenteeism
  • strengthening work relationships
  • reducing employee turnover
  • enhancing customer relationships
  • improving morale
  • preventing accidents
  • minimizing errors in judgment
  • controlling health insurance costs
  • reducing the impact of workplace trauma
  • AND “making or breaking” a substance abuse policy.

Consider these statistics:

  • The average U.S. employee spends more than 50 hours on the job per year resolving family-related issues.
  • Over the next decade, up to 18% of employees will be caring for elderly family members, which often leads to increase absenteeism and extended leaves of absence. Approximately one in five will leave their job.
  • Troubled employees are at least 20% less productive than the average worker. In fact, a study published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association estimated that the cost of lost productivity to only one disorder, major depression, is over $31 billion annually.

Why should my company choose REAP?

Richmond Employee Assistance Program (REAP) offers local Richmond businesses, schools and municipalities unparalleled personal service unattainable from insurers or national EAPs.

We know Richmond. As a local, small business REAP understands the unique culture and current events of the Richmond metro area. We’ve been supporting Richmond businesses for more than 20 years.

We’re here for your employees. Calls are answered directly at our office. Appointments are offered quickly, within 2 business days, and conveniently scheduled at one of three offices located across Richmond: West End, Southside and Downtown. Emergency help is available 24 hours a day.

We support your supervisors. REAP is a comprehensive people management tool providing assistance to managers and supervisors when an employee has problems with attendance, work performance or productivity, corporate substance abuse policy violations or inappropriate personal behavior. Formal Referrals give your supervisors an effective disciplinary resource to resolve employee work issues.

We know what we’re doing. REAP can assist your business in the design, implementation and management a workplace substance abuse policy and conduct periodic training sessions for supervisors on substance abuse policy enforcement. REAP is also available to consult on other personnel policy with your Human Resource department.

We’re there for you. Critical Incident Support offers an on-site counselor to respond to traumatic events such as an employee death, layoffs, a workplace accident or local Richmond crisis.

We really care. We have achieved an outstanding average 10-25% utilization rate. The standard industry utilization rate for face-to-face EAP services is 4.5%. We are not part of a managed behavioral care organization, insurer or health plan. Helping companies create a balanced work/life experience for their employees is our focus and our passion.

We spend time getting to know you. Your supervisors and managers will gain confidence and trust by building a long-term, one-on-one relationship with a REAP counselor. Each Formal Referral initiates at least two contacts between our counselor and the supervisor to discuss the employee issue and recommended solutions.

We work with you. As a member of the REAP consortium of companies, you will be offered a place on our Board. Board members work together several times a year to find new ways to be of service to REAP companies and their employees.

How much does it cost?

REAP services is one of the most cost-effective benefit programs available. A typical REAP program costs just $16 per employee per year. There are no additional charges for trainings, seminars, printed informational materials, consultation or critical incident support.

How do I contact REAP?
